Louisville basketball is making a push for multiple elite 5-stars in the 2027 recruiting class, but one in particular is getting a lot of attention. Pat Kelsey continues to make a push for 5-star Reese Alston, as the Cardinals head coach has shown up for multiple games for the point guard in the past week.
Last week, Kelsey was in Virginia to watch Alston play at the Puma NXTPro 16 event, and it was reported over the weekend that Louisville’s head coach was once again in attendance for another game of Alston’s, this time in Texas at the PRO16/NXTPRO League in Bryan, Texas.
Alston is a top 10 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, ranking as high as No. 6 overall, No. 2 among point guards, and No. 1 among Texas recruits. On3 Sports reports there is a chance he reclassifies to the 2026 recruiting class, but as of now, the top three teams recruiting the 5-star are Louisville, LSU, and Wichita State.

Louisville basketball eyes elite 5-star center
Louisville basketball continues to trend with some of the biggest names in the 2027 recruiting class, including 5-star center Darius Wabbington. Earlier this summer, the Cards landed inside the 5-star top six, putting Louisville in a major recruiting battle with Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, and Arizona.
On top of the Cardinals getting a huge update from the 5-star, Louisville also learned they will earn the first official visit from Wabbington. Louisville will host the elite center on Sept. 11, and then the Arizona native will visit Arizona on September 25 and Texas on October 9.
Louisville is looking to add its next elite center, as Kelsey was in attendance for a game of Wabbington’s in South Carolina on July 16. The 5-star 6-foot-11, 245-pound center ranks as high as No. 13 overall in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 2 among centers.

Jeff Brohm reveals what makes Lincoln Kienholz so special
Louisville football was in Charlotte for the ACC Media Day this past week, and Jeff Brohm was there to talk about his 2026-27 squad. The Cards have high expectations heading into Brohm’s fourth year as Louisville’s head coach, and someone getting a lot of attention is their 4-star transfer, Lincoln Kienholz.
The Ohio State transfer was highly recruited out of high school, and Brohm sent a powerful message the other day on why he believes Kienholz is ready to take over for Louisville.
“I think he brings us some dimensions and skills that we have not had before," stated Brohm. "I think he is a great athlete. He can run, he can extend plays, he can throw on the run, and he enjoys doing that. He’s got all the skills, he’s got all the traits you are looking for, he’s a great teammate, and I think he is ready for this challenge.”
Kienholz was one of Louisville’s top commitments in the portal this offseason, and despite not starting in a single college football game, Louisville fans and Brohm are excited for what is to come in 2026 from the Ohio State transfer.
